Angel went to rainbow bridge May 13, 2008 with her foster mom there for her. Her adoptables bio follows.
Angel came to us from a large animal control facility in Illinois. She came into the shelter as a stray. It is more likely that she was dumped. The shelter held her an extra few day in hopes that someone would claim her. The plan was to arrest them for animal cruelty. Angel had not been groomed in so long that her coat was one huge mat. Her nails had grown into her paws. The shelter attempted to shave her down but their clippers would not go through the mats. They sent her out to two different groomers in an attempt to make her more comfortable. They finally were able to shave her down but in doing so because the air had not reached her skin in so long the skin on her legs actually came off with the hair. Through all of this, this poor little girl tried to give kisses to the groomer.
Fortunately for Angel she had found a very caring Animal Control officer who really wanted to save her. Angel is well up in years and in addition is deaf. Most shelters would have euthanized her. The A/C officer contacted a vet friend who recommended Shorewood because he has seen some of the work we have done with other dogs.
Angel will need a home that has a lot of love to give and will understand what she has been through. She is now crate trained and is housetrained as long as she is taken out every 3 or 4 hours.
