Skipper [ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 21] is a tri colored male Cocker Spaniel from a shelter in Wisconsin. His family moved and gave him to their neighbors who tired of him after a few weeks. The family had no information on him, so we've been assessing him very carefully since he came into rescue. The shelter staff had to shave him down as he was matted to the skin. We estimate him to be about 5 years old. He's a calm boy who is good with friendly dogs, doesn't care about cats, and could stare at ferrets all day. They fascinate him. He gets along well with children and will allow them to walk him. He's good on a lead which is a wonder as he was formerly an outside dog.
He is neutered and current on distemper, bordetella, heartworm negative, and will be updated on his rabies booster this week. From what his foster mother has seen so far he is a love and an absolute treasure. He follows his foster mom everywhere and has learned what a dog bed is for and loves the idea! He likes rawhide but isn't sure about plush or squeaky toys yet. He likes to sit on the couch with his people and doesn't attempt to jump onto the people bed. He is somewhat apprehensive of new situations but does fine if his people give him a little reassurance. He doesn't jump onto people and for a dog who has probably had no formal obedience training, you'd never guess it. He's really come out of his shell while in foster care. Skipper will be a great addition to someone's family. Wouldn't you like to welcome Skipper into your home?
